Voyager Scholarship, Eligibility process

To be eligible, candidates must satisfy each of the following requirements:

• Plan to start their junior year of study full-time in the fall of 2022 at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Students who qualify are:
• completing the second year in spring 2022
• Or changing to a four-year college for their junior year of study in 2022-2023 from a two-year institution.
• possess a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent
• have shown a dedication to public service.
• After graduation, make a plan to pursue a career in public service.
• Be citizens of the United States (US), permanent residents (owners of a Permanent Resident Card), or recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA)

Applicants with little or no prior involvement in other leadership programs throughout their undergraduate studies may be given preference. For consideration for the program, students must demonstrate a need for financial aid.

The following will be given to the recipients:

• Summer Voyage: Between their junior and senior years of college, students will create their own summer journey with a $10,000 budget. Students will be able to take advantage of internship or mentoring possibilities anywhere in the world as a result of the experience, which will help them widen their perspectives and get them ready for careers in public service. Additionally, students will be able to use Airbnb credits to book lodging through Airbnb.
• Airbnb will provide the students a $2,000 travel credit every year for ten years, for a total of $20,000, after they graduate. As a result, students will be able to continue to expand their perspectives and make new contacts throughout their careers in public service.
• Voyagers will be given invitations to the annual Fall Summit. The summit will feature a meeting with Brian Chesky, President Obama, and other world leaders this fall. Additionally, they will gain access to a network of alumni and Voyagers who they can make connections with at the summit and beyond.
• Students will be given access to a network of leaders throughout the program through invitations to a regular lecture series. They will learn about new service opportunities and advancements taking place in their professions thanks to this network of leaders. They will become a part of the Obama Foundation’s worldwide community once they graduate, receiving Foundation resources and activities.

Voyager Scholarship, Cost for Scholarship, Worth over {$25,000- $50,000}

Students will receive up to $25,000 year in “last dollar” financial help to cover any remaining tuition and/or living expenses for their junior and senior years of college.
