Texas Tech Scholarship- Eligibility Process
In addition to your grades and your standing in your class, the Presidential Scholarship requires that you be a student who will be starting their first year of college in the upcoming school year (college credits earned through dual-credit, CLEP, or AP do not disqualify you).
Throughout your time as a student at TTU, you are required to satisfy the following requirements:
- Keep your cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) at the level specified in the “Terms and Conditions”.
- Continue your participation in an academic program at Texas Tech University on a full-time basis and earn a minimum of 30 hours from TTU each and every year (checked in May).
- Make sure that your addresses on MyTech, including your email address, are always up to date.
- Compose a note of gratitude to the university’s scholarship benefactor at the time and in the manner specified by the Texas Tech University Scholarship Office.
- Participate in the obligatory donation events.

Texas Tech Scholarship- Cost for Scholarship Worth Over $1,000 to $9,000
Scholarships awarded by the Presidential Merit Foundation range from $1,000 to $9,000 per year in value and can be renewed each year if the recipient continues to demonstrate outstanding merit.
If you are a domestic student who is not a resident of the state in which you attend school and you are awarded the Presidential Scholarship, you may also be eligible to pay the resident tuition rate for that state.
The annual award amounts are split so that half of the payment goes toward the fall terms and the other half goes toward the spring terms. In the event that you are a non-resident of the state and are granted a Presidential Scholarship, you will be eligible to pay the in-state tuition rate.
Texas Tech Scholarship- How to Apply
If a student is qualified to earn one Presidential Scholarship under the TTU Presidential Scholarship program, then the Presidential offer supersedes any other Presidential scholarship offers that the student was previously entitled to receive. The Presidential Merit Scholarships are exclusively available to students enrolled in programs offered by Texas Tech University. Scholarships awarded by Texas Tech University are not transferable to Angelo State University, Texas Tech Costa Rica, or the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). When you submit an application for admission to a program of study offered by TTUHSC, you will have the option to be considered for scholarships offered by TTUHSC. Before moving on, it is essential to check that all of the prerequisites for the application have been met.
The deadline to submit an application for this scholarship is the first of April 2023; however, the priority deadline is the first of December 2022.
Choice of Recipients
The recipients are chosen by the College of Media & Communication scholarship committee after the general scholarship application has been submitted by the deadline. It is crucial to remember that, although academic achievement is taken into account when awarding scholarships, it is only one of the factors used to determine who will receive them. When making award decisions, the scholarship committee takes into account a number of variables, including academic achievement, community involvement, test scores, and financial need.
